ABOUT US
Archive Knitwear is a Boston-based, female owned and operated small-business that creates hand-crafted knitwear to keep you cozy year after year.
Archive Knitwear was founded with the clear objective of bringing luxurious handmade knitwear using sustainable fibers,
to modern women.
Our designs are based off of a timeless wardrobe, where minimalism is mixed with classic silhouettes, refined details, tonal hues, and cozy textures. We focus on creating small batches of knitwear that are designed in the United States and responsibly handmade by a team of artisan knitters who share the same values as us, to slow down the fashion cycle, celebrate handmade craftsmanship, and invest in ethical production practices.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Deanna DeRouchey started Archive Knitwear - as with most small, handmade businesses - as a creative outlet.
After learning to knit from my mom at the age of 12, the skill that I learned 'just for fun' grew into a deep love for knitting.
I started knitting as a hobby. Then along came Etsy and I was able to turn my passion into a small business, where I was able design and make styles that I couldn't find anywhere else, styles that felt timeless and I could wear year after year.
I started with a small variety of scarves, that later grew into into more accessories and home decor. I was designing new styles each year for small boutiques around the world and larger companies like Anthropologie.
I hand knit (& crochet!) every individual piece by hand.
SUSTAINABILITY
We believe it is in our hands to do as much as possible to protect the planet. With that in mind, we focus on only using renewable, sustainable, and biodegradable fibers.
All of our yarn is then dyed using low impact dye that has been classified by the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 (an international certification process) as eco-friendly.
Creating items in small batches means we are making only what we need, and there is as little waste as possible.
As well as using recyclable and biodegradable packaging, we are doing our part to create the lowest impact on the planet.
Join us in supporting slow fashion.
QUALITY
Our wool is sourced from the Andean highlands of Peru where the animals are taken care of by local family farms.
We work closely with our team of artisan knitters,
using sustainable materials and processes to develop a new kind of luxury - one that focuses on craftsmanship.
Each item is knit by hand, either in Boston by Deanna, or in Peru, by our amazing team of knitters.
Our yarns are custom made to our specifications, and we source the finest quality merino wool to produce modern classics, that are designed to last.
